    Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) Training

Theme: It starts with you, but it’s not about you!

    Description:

The Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) Training is an intensive, trauma-informed program designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and emotional awareness needed to recognize, prevent, and de-escalate bullying-based violence and self-destructive behaviors. This training emphasizes the physiological and emotional impact of trauma, teaching participants how to model healthy, regulated behavior and foster safer, more compassionate communities.

Rooted in social-emotional learning, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and trauma-inforCPSlogomed practice, this course helps individuals understand the deep connection between personal regulation and community well-being. Participants will learn that while healing and awareness begin with the self, the ultimate goal is to create collective safety, belonging, and accountability.

    Trigger Warning

This training includes open discussions about trauma, suicide, abuse, addiction, and violence. These topics may evoke emotional responses or memories. Participants are encouraged to practice self-care, take breaks as needed, and seek support if they become overwhelmed. The facilitator will provide grounding exercises and optional debrief spaces to ensure emotional safety throughout the session.

    Objectives

    Participants will:

    • Reduce bullying-based violence, suicide, abuse, addiction, dependency, and other aggressive behaviors through proactive prevention strategies.
    • Deepen both community and personal relationships by fostering empathy, accountability, and respect.
    • Increase morale, dignity, and pride within personal and professional environments.
    • Integrate personal strategies for social support, emotional regulation, and relational resilience.
    • Cultivate personal and community accountability by modeling integrity and positive behavior.
    • Develop tools for self-awareness, self-identity, and self-regulation to strengthen emotional intelligence and leadership capacity.
    • Empower participants to become stronger guardians and protectors of others, building cultures of safety and connection.
